Lumbociatalgia: what is it? What to do in these situations?

Also for the “lumbago” or “lumbociatalgia”, commonly referred as back pain, that contrary to common belief affects both young and elderly humans.

Sometimes children and teenagers, with their first approach to physical and sports activities that engage consistently lumbar muscles and spinal cord, accuse the first annoying back pains that should never be neglected or undervalued.

However, what is lumbociatalgia for real?

Assuming firstly that for “lower back pain” we refer to a pain covering the lumbar and sacral region, when it also reaches out the lower limbs area develops “lumbociatalgia” (i.e. low back pain with impairment of the sciatic nerve).

The causes of this painful condition can be various; sometimes it seems not to exist a real plausible triggering cause. The organs of the musculoskeletal system are certainly involved, and, for various reasons, they are subject to constant and repeated trauma, causing tension and inflammation in the lower back muscles up to the sciatic nerve thus compromising even the structure of the entire spinal cord, preventing subsequently to assume a regular posture for the lingering acute and persistent pain (what we commonly define “lumbago”).

So what to do in these situations?

Simple, as well as recommended by doctors in these cases, it is effective to execute a massage cycle, or body manipulations if you like, performed by a well-trained and expert professional masseur, who carefully and supported by proper techniques for this type of disorder, will certainly relieve slowly any unbearable pain.

Methods to be adopted in back massaging, when coping with severe pain, should be based on the slowness and light pressure along the lower back muscles, including buttocks and vertebral ones, to make sure to dissolve gradually any lower back tensions, still tense because of fear to feel severe pain.

Remember to pay close attention to sudden movements deriving from lifting weights or twists that you can do every day unconsciously, because the “dig” in the back which will provide you annoying pains in these situation is hiding around the corner (even if you have never suffered of this disorder), this could force you to an unplanned rest period, but perhaps it is appropriate to say, every cloud has a silver lining meaning that resting will allow you to detach a little bit  from the daily work stress, stress which it is often one of the most common causes for back pain suffering.
